  1. 1. Meet with a Career Counsellor

York students get personalized career support by meeting with Career Counsellors to discuss professional resources, effective job search strategies, ideas about expanding your network and tips to enhance your LinkedIn profile. The Career Centre’s 30-minute Individual Appointments are a great starting point to get your summer job search underway and strategize how to work towards long-term professional goals.

  2. 2. Perfect Your Resumé and Interview Skills

Before submitting job applications, you’ll need to update and polish your resumé and cover letter. To stand out, York has a variety of unique Career Centre workshops that can help you create or improve your resumé; such as the 30-minute Resumé & Cover Letter Feedback Session. York students can also book an Interview Practice Session to prepare for upcoming interviews. This is a great way to receive constructive feedback and get comfortable with the interview process.

  3. 3. Explore the Career Centre Job Board

You don’t have to look far to find summer job opportunities! York University offers on-campus jobs every summer and employers post over 10,000 jobs per year on the Career Centre’s Job Board. These listings include full-time and part-time positions, internships, summer jobs and volunteer opportunities. Additionally, students can complete the Student Financial Profile to see if they’re eligible for York’s unique Work/Study programs.
